Hello, I'm Carla of Boltic Blends, though my main job will always be that of Mummy to my two boys; 11 year old Ethan and my rainbow baby, Harrison who is now nearly 3. Over the past few years, we as a family have taken steps to become more eco-friendly and developed a passion for wooden toys and sustainable organic clothing. (I'm a huge fan of Scandi clothing, especially Duns of Sweden). We now cycle to and from nursery and spend a lot of time outdoors in nature, in the garden or caravanning.
11 years ago, I started my own business, initially making wedding cake toppers. I've always been very artistically minded, so founding a business where I could use my skills and work around my children has been wonderful! Making sure the business was eco friendly was also hugely important to me. Polymer clay is a wonderful medium to work with; it's so durable and I feel proud to know that my work can be enjoyed for many years to come and even passed down through generations to come. Most of my orders are sent via post to customers across the country, so I re-use packaging wherever I can to keep the footprint of my business small.
I have crafted over 600 custom wedding toppers now, and my business has expanded widely. Making realistic clay models of people's pets has been extremely rewarding; they bring so much joy to the recipients. My love of all things Scandi has inspired my newest ranges of jewellery and Nordic Gonks. Many of these are seasonally decorative and ideal for display tables or for getting out each year over a lifetime - my Halloween items were a huge hit and I've now brought out Christmas lines. You can check out my range in my Etsy shop here.
Being environmentally conscious is so important, now more than ever, and I love supporting Small Eco Steps. I think the message of us all taking little steps towards being more planet-friendly is a great one; there is always more that we can do. I've recently begun using all my clay off-cuts and leftovers to create beautiful earrings!
As a special offer to all Small Eco Steps customers, I'm offering a free pair of these Zero Waste earrings with any purchase - just enter code SES in the checkout notes when you buy from my Etsy shop.
